Josef Suk(요셉 수크) : 1874~1935
요제프 수크는 체코를 대표하는 세계적인 바이올리니스트이자 
수크3중주단의 리더로서 체코 음악계에 막강한 영향력을 끼치고 있는 명연주자다. 
그의 할아버지 역시 유명한 작곡가로 수크와 같은 이름을 가졌으며, 
드보르자크의 사위이기도 하다. 즉 바이올리니스트 수크는 드보르자크의 외손자가 된다.
죠셉 수크는 체코산 바이올리니스트로서신세계 교향곡의 작곡가 안토닌 드보르작의
증손자이며 체코의 뛰어난 작곡가인 동명의 죠셉 수크의 손자랍니다.
협주곡과 실내악에서 뛰어난 공연을 했고 많은 녹음을 남겼지요. 
프라하에서 `Josef Suk and His Friends"라는
국제 음악 페스티벌을 마련하여 수년째 각광을 받고 있습니다.
전통 깊은 보헤미아 악파의 흐름을 오늘에 이어받고 있는 귀중한 존재이며, 
헛되이 비루투오소를 탐닉하지 않고 충분한 미감을 뽑아낸다.
 
The son-in-law of Dvorák, composer and violinist, Josef Suk was for long a 
member of the Czech Quartet. He wrote relatively little chamber music, achieving 
distinction rather as a composer of orchestral music. 
Orchestral Music 
The best known of Suk's orchestral works is his Serenade for Strings, written 
in 1892. Other works, written on a larger scale, in particular the symphony 
Asrael, in which he mourns the death of his father-in-law and his wife, 
represent music of greater ambition. 
Chamber Music 
Suk wrote relatively little chamber music. His Four Piceces, Op., 17, for 
violin and piano are a standard element in violin recital repertoire.
